No Questions Please!

Some staffers at CBS’s KOVR/KMAX in Sacramento think they got sandbagged by their News Director.

An email went out to the staff informing them that CBS corporate suits, Jennifer Mitchell and Wendy McMahon would be coming to the NoCal station for a town hall meeting with the staff.

Here is the internal email that was sent to the staff and obtained by FTVLive:

As you can see by the email, the staff was told to bring their questions that wanted to ask the big bosses.

As the day came for the big town hall, the staff was informed that Wendy McMahon couldn't make it due to flight cancellation and appeared via zoom.

Jennifer Mitchell was able to make it to the station.

But here is where it “gets sketchy,” according to a station employee.

“Employees were told to submit questions for the two big wigs, even told moments before the town hall went live to get their questions ready,” the staffer told FTVLive. “But, behind-the-scenes, News Director Mike Dello Stritto axed the questions... Turning a town hall into a presentation,” the staffer added.

Sources tell FTVLive that as the Production staff was wiring up a podium with a laptop so that morning anchor Courtney Dempsey could take questions from remote employees via zoom and from employees at the station were ready to ask in person.

But, insiders tell FTVLIve that Dello Stritto entered the studio where the town hall was to take place, minutes before it was to begin told the production staff that there would be no questions and the equipment would not be needed.

“Everyone in the room was bewildered as even Jennifer Mitchell had been telling employees she was looking forward to answering questions,” said one station staffer that was there.

“It's clear the questions were not going to reflect well on Dello Stritto, and he wanted sanitized questions to be asked,” said a source to FTVLive.

“It was odd since one of our "goals" this year set by our GM was to be more transparent,” one staffer said.

Well, maybe not when it comes to the big bosses being in town.

I ironically, the KOVR tagline Is “Getting Answers”….

Hello, World!
