New ND Named in Memphis

FTVLive has been saying for years that media companies need to hire more people of color and women for management positions.

Almost all TV stations stations are lacking when it comes to doing this.

So, FTVLive is tipping our cap to Tegna for hiring Denisha Thomas as the new ND at WATN in Memphis.

Thomas had been an Executive Producer at Tegna’s WKYC in Cleveland and also worked in my hometown of Buffalo, NY at WGRZ.

“Denisha is a dynamic, talented leader and a proven innovator in local news across all platforms,” said WATN president and general manager Rick Rogala. “Her passion for great journalism and deep Memphis roots will serve her well as we continue building a strong, vibrant news culture, and we are excited she has decided to join the WATN team.”

Good luck to Thomas and good on Tegna for the hire, but please don’t just stop there. This industry needs to evolve.
