Yesterday, in a Patron-only story, FTVLive told you that the suits at Nexstar had set up a Zoom meeting for some stations.

Many Nexstar insiders thought that it would be about News Nation the cable newscast that Nexstar is launching next month on WGN America.

That issue was briefly touched on in a Q&A and Reporter and Photographers were told that down the line they could be asked to do live shots and more for the cable newscast.

One Nexstar employee said the bosses said in the meeting, “we should do our best to support it (News Nation” because it's part of the family.

So, what was the meeting about?

This is how one Nexstar staffer summed up the meeting to FTVLive, “It ended up being nothing but an hour-long sales meeting basically saying we're doing a great job in the face of COVID-19 keep it up!! Basically, they were discussing sales community events newscast numbers, etc.”

“Basically ya'll are great... rah-rah,” the staffer said about the meeting.

The staff was told that Nextar CEO Perry Sook remains committed to 0 layoffs and 0 furloughs due to the pandemic.

Other ownership groups, like NBC, Meredith, Tegna, and Fox have cut people or furloughed staff, but Nexstar says they have no plans to do that.

I guess out of the entire meeting, that was the only real news and props to Nexstar for not making cuts due to Rona.
