Hmmmm? Anchor Opening in DC

Tegna’s WUSA has posted a job for a morning Anchor at the station.

But, who’s job is it?

Tony Perkins has not been seen on the air for over a month. Word is that Perkins took the past 8 weeks off on “vacation.”

Who the hell gets 8 weeks vacation in TV news?

But according to this post from Perkins yesterday, it appears that he is returning next week to the anchor desk:

So, the Tegna Anchor posting does not appear to be Perkins’ job, but did he drop us a hint in the tweet?

Notice that he tags everyone on the show, but he did not tag Gio Insignares.

On the WUSA website, it says that Insignares is a morning anchor and reporter at WUSA9 in Washington, D.C., as part of the Get Up DC ensemble from 4:25 a.m.-6 a.m.

While it still appears that Insignares is working at the station, he has not been seen anchoring the morning newscast as his bio says he does.

If we put 2+2 together, we are guessing that the job the station has posted is Insignares’ job.

Don’t be surprised if you see the station announce that they have a new Anchor and that, “Gio Insignares has left the station to pursue new opportunities.”

Here is the posting by Tegna that went up this week:
