Tegna's Denver Station Fires Anchor After Tweet

KUSA (Denver) has parted ways with their Meteorologist Marty Coniglio, after he posted this tweet.

Coniglio becomes the latest example of someone that works in TV news and strays outside of his lane and shows his bias.

It didn’t help his employment future when a U.S. Congressman replied to his tweet:

Often, people in TV news see political tweets made by the likes of Sean Hannity, Chris Cuomo, Tucker Carlson, Jim Acosta, and others in cable news and for some reason, they think it is okay.

It is not okay and doing so can cost you your job.

Coniglio deleted the tweet, but not before It was screenshotted and sent around to FTVLive and others.

I know that with all that is happening in our country and the fact that it is divided like never before, it is tempting to speak out, voice your opinion and frustration.

But, when you decided to become a Journalist, you should have decided that you need to keep your personal views personal. That goes for anyone working in the newsroom, Anchors, Reporters, Photographers, Producers and yes even people in Sports and Weather.

The exception is the people that give commentary at a TV station and that person should never be the main anchor that is delivering the news each night.

Tegna made the right call with Coniglio, but if they are to part ways with him over this tweet, shouldn’t this same action be used against other Tegna employees that have tweeted political or offensive tweets?

Shouldn’t the same rules apply to everyone that works for the company?

If you need some examples of that Tegna, just shoot us an email.

As for Coniglio, he now has this tweet pinned to the top of his account:
