A month ago FTVLive told you that it was looking like Jeff Zucker was going to be leaving CNN not long after the election.

Now, Vanity Fair is out with a story saying just what we told you a month ago.

VF says there’s talk in the upper ranks of WarnerMedia that Zucker is expected to leave CNN in the first quarter of 2021, according to someone familiar with the matter.

It wouldn’t happen before the inauguration, sources said, and one person close to Zucker cautioned that nothing’s a done deal and “a final decision has not been made.”

Zucker has about a year left on his contract, but sources tell FTVLive that CNN's parent WarnerMedia, “is more than ready for Zucker to leave right now.”

One interesting point in the VF story is this line, “Zucker was blindsided by a recent restructuring in which he lost oversight of CNN's financial, human resources, and communications departments.”

Word is that Zucker was given less than a day's notice about the change before it took effect.

What is most interesting is that Zucker’s girlfriend Allison Gollust heads up the communications department and no longer works under Zucker.

Both WarnerMeadi and Jeff Zucker will claim that the CNN boss is leaving on his terms, but cable industry sources say he is clearly being pushed out.

Which, quite frankly will be one of the best things to happen to CNN in quite a long time.
