Over the weekend, FTVLive FIRST told you that Anthony Pittman the morning Anchor at Sinclair’s KVII (Amarillo) was arrested on prostitution charges.

On Saturday, FTVLive reported that the station did not report on their Anchor’s arrest, but they did issue a statement on their website:

Looking at the KVII website, we see that the station has reported on a number of other people being arrested and nowhere in the story did we find the line “an arrest is obviously not a conviction.” That line seems to only be used when it is one of their staff members.

After FTVLive’s story on Saturday, KVII did update their statement, adding, “We promised transparency in our reporting of the arrest of our colleague Anthony Pittman. Anthony has been charged with Class B solicitation of prostitution. It is considered a misdemeanor and with no aggravating circumstances, which do not appear to be a factor, the punishment if convicted is up to 180 days in jail and up to a $2000 fine. We will update this story as events dictate.”

Pittman’s bio remains of the station’s website.

It would be unlikely that despite their Anchor’s arrest on soliciting of prostitution, that Sinclair will fire Pittman.

You may remember back in 1996, Sinclair boss David Smith was busted for committing a perverted sex act with a prostitute in a company-owned Mercedes.

If the boss kept his job, how can they fire an Anchor for doing the same thing?

Stay tuned…
