Subject: Station Announcement

Team 25,

It is with mixed emotions I announce that Charlie Haldeman has chosen to pursue other opportunities. Charlie has served this great station as news director for the last three years. Under his leadership, we have won numerous awards, launched CTL, created great local content, and helped make central Texas a better place. Charlie’s efforts and Texas knowledge will be greatly missed. We wish him and his family the best, as they move on to their next chapter. His last day is slated for August 16th.

Please see the note below from Charlie.

Team-

While I wanted to talk to each of you personally, I realize that word travels too fast for me to do that. I hope you’ll forgive the standard memo in lieu of a direct visit.

I’ve decided to step away from my role as your News Director at KXXV-TV. For me, it’s a decision I’ve pondered for some time now and my three-year anniversary looks like a good time to write a new chapter.

I want you to know how extremely proud I am of all of you for the work you do every day to make our product the first choice for Central Texans; when, where, and how they want it.

When Brian Lawlor first visited this station last year, he explained that the E.W. Scripps Co. is first and foremost a content company. I hope you’ve seen how true that is with the resources, thoughtful discussions, and new ideas that have come to light in 2019. With your talents and the positive direction, our newscasts and content offerings are some of the best around. They’re only getting better.

It’s been my honor to work alongside the best this business has to offer. Central Texas is well served by each of you as you tell the stories that impact us all here. While I’ll be leaving, I know that won’t change.

Adam Chase and the leadership team have truly taken the time, effort, and heart to engage us all and bring the Scripps values to the forefront here. Doing well by doing good is more than a motto or catch-phrase. They live it and I hope you know how much care they have put into making sure each of you are in good hands.

This team certainly has untold momentum thanks to the vision and leadership from Adam and the Scripps staff. I’ll look back in awe of this place and each of you.

It’s been an honor to work with you and will be until August 16.

-CH
