For Christ's Sake....Drop The Damn Promo (Updated)

Yesterday, FTVLive told you the cause of death for longtime WPLG Anchor Todd Tongen was suicide.

WPLG reported the news on their website and on their air. WPLG President and CEO Bert Medina said said, "We are shocked and saddened by the death of Todd Tongen, but we are choosing to remember how he lived," Medina said. "Todd was an incredibly talented journalist. He spent 30 years at WPLG telling the stories of the people in our community and giving so much of himself to this community. He was an incredible person. He lit up the room with his warm personality.

Heading to WPLG’s website, you see that the station handled Tongen's suicide tastefully, showing sensitivity and class on such an emotional topic.

That is until you hit play on the video!

Before getting to the station’s story on Tongen’s death, the web viewer is required to sit through a 15-second hyped up weather talent promo.

Tongen delivered the weather on WPLG for years and now the station uses the circumstances of his death to pimp their current weather team.

WPLG handled the story with class and then completely blow it, in an effort to squeeze in another promo and shove it in the viewers face.

It’s sad, but I guess in today’s TV news it is not unexpected.
