The Lacking of Latinos

You may remember back on June 3rd, FTVLive told you that the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) is urging the American Latino community and supporters to boycott CBS This Morning and the CBS Evening News over what the advocacy group describes as "Latino exclusion" from the network's flagship news programs.

It seems the local CBS affiliates are also lacking when it comes to Latinos.

Yesterday, FTVLive was the FIRST top tell you that Gray’s WOIO (Cleveland) had parted ways with Anchor/Reporter Lydia Esparra.

The staff received a short two line memo from News Director Ian Rubin saying that Esparra was gone from the station “effective immediately.”

Esparra was the only Latina at the station.

She joins a long list of people that have left the station in recent memory. “People—not just on air folks—are disappearing like it’s a horror movie,” said one staffer to FTVLive.

In the meantime Rubin hired a friend of his from Sarasota as an MMJ and after just a short time on the job, the friend was bumped up to a Reporter job.

Some of the other MMJ’s are crying foul and are also learning a longtime staple of this business. It’s not what you know as much as it is WHO you know.
