FTVLive FIRST told you that WLEX had finally decided to fire morning Anchor Lee Cruse after he cast his support for a racist DJ, calling him his “new favorite DJ.”

Cruse and his co-host Hayley Harmon were talking about the BBC DJ that was fired for posting a racist picture depicting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a chimpanzee.

Cruse declared that the DJ was now his “favorite.”

The station did not do anything after Cruse made his comments, but after FTVLive posted a story that was picked up by the local paper, WLEX and Scripps management then said that they decided to “further evaluate” the comments made by Cruse.

Cruse tried to issue and apology that was full of excuses, including that he said he never reads his scripts before going on air and that’s why he did not know what the story was about.

WLEX then announced that they were suspending Cruse for a week.

At the time, FTVLive wrote, “Lee Cruse got off easy and maybe Scripps needs to “further evaluate” the actions of WLEX management and their actions.”

Yesterday, the station announced they were firing Cruse.

It took awhile, but Scripps and WLEX finally made the right call.
