Eye Problems Cause Big Easy Met to Retire

Carl Arredondo has spent almost 30 years giving viewers the weather at New Orleans WWL as the station’s Chief Meteorologist.

Arredondo is stepping down from the station next Friday, but it is not a happy retirement.

The longtime Meteorologist is signing off due to failing eyesight that he believes will eventually prevent him from providing the type of precise forecasting people are used to him giving.

Arredondo went on the air and handled his issue with true class:

"I didn't want to be one of those people who stayed around too long," Arredondo said of his decision to step down. "I wanted to be like (John) Elway or Peyton Manning and go out on top."

We wish him the best.
