As for the company that is building the station’s new news set?

It is a local cabinet maker that has never done anything like this in his life.

Cesar Rodriguez owns CR Custom Cabinets in Yuma and is now moving from the kitchen to the studio.

The station did a story on Rodriguez and his undertaking of building the new news set. They said Rodriguez is realizing that he must now incorporate materials that he had never used for kitchen cabinets. Materials like television screens, sheet metal, and even LED lights.

Does he have past experience in TV news? Well, no, “I used to work in the lettuce and decided that I didn’t like to go back and forth, so I started working with an uncle in the cabinets and I liked it,” Rodriguez says.

The station says they will be doing more stories on their new set which they hope to debut on Monday. Sounds like the station is paying Rodriguez off with free air time in the newscast.
