Scripps Station Duped by Fake News

A website that was made to look like USA Today reported that a Oklahoma accidentally burned down his home by attempting to burn a pair of Nike sneakers in protest of the latest Colin Kaepernick Ad.

Now, yes this does sound like something a guy in Oklahoma would do, but the story was a joke, it didn't really happen.

But, that did not stop Scripps owned KJRH from reporting the story and posting it on their website. The KJRH story got shared a number of times, before the station realized it not a real story and they took it down with no explanation.

Unlike KJRH, the Bartlesville paper looked into the story, actually made a few phone calls and found out the story was not true.

Maybe, just maybe KJRH should try something like that in the future.

Just a thought....
