Bumped Up to The Deuce in SoFlo

NBC O&O WTVJ in Miami has a new Deuce and they didn’t have to go far to find her.

Dawn Clapperton, who had been leading the station’s I-Team and Consumer Unit is getting the bump to Assistant News Director.

The station also promoted David Henderson to Senior Executive Producer

The past 12 months have been extremely hectic with breaking news. Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the Nursing Home tragedy, the terrible MSD shooting, and the FIU bridge collapse tested our ability to serve our viewers, to represent our responsible news brand and our endurance as 24/7 journalists. Through all of these news stories, we rose to the occasion being aggressive without being sensationalists. I am proud of our team, and that's why when we need to recruit we always prefer to promote from our current staff.

Today, I ask you to join me in congratulating Dawn Clapperton who is becoming our Assistant News Director. Dawn is an extraordinary Investigative journalist and storyteller that has been leading our I-Team and Consumer Unit with great success for the last three years. I am tasking Dawn with the goal to enhance our efforts to produce more enterprise content. Breaking News and Weather will continue to be our priority, but by creating unique content, we will better serve our viewers and increase our chances to improve our ratings performance.

We are also promoting David Henderson to Senior Executive Producer. As Senior EP, David will continue overseeing the 5 and 6 pm newscasts, our political coverage and will partner with our EPs to make sure our production values are on point, and our Producers and APs continue growing to reach their maximum potential.
