FTVLive has learned that WJXT Managing Editor Frank Volpicella is leaving the station and the TV news business altogether. 

Volpicella was a longtime News Director at Tegna owned KVUE in Austin Texas before taking the Tegna buyout. He is now headed back to Austin to be near family and work as a GM of Community Impact Newspaper, a hyper-local monthly publication that focuses on content that most media ignores: transportation, schools, infra-structure, health care, and local businesses.

As for his time in Jacksonville, Volpicella says he is, "very appreciative of my time there and I was blessed to have worked at 3 great stations in his TV news career: WSB (Atlanta), KVUE, and WJXT."

Funny he never mentioned his time at WGCL in Atlanta as News Director.
