Man Charged in the Death of Hawaii Reporter

Police arrested a suspect in the death of former KHON Sports Reporter John Noland.

Noland was found unresponsive on Saturday, June 9, at around 1:48 a.m. after he was ttacked on the street. He later died from his injuries.

Cops arrested Mark Coleman and he's being held on $300,000 bail and charged with manslaughter.

Investigators arrested Coleman after he was identified in surveillance footage.

Police picked up the 58-year-old Coleman on Thursday night at a homeless encampment near the scene of the crime.

Police say Coleman is seen on video hitting Noland several times. Noland then falls and hits his head on the sidewalk.

Police want to know where Noland was before the attack, as well as what started the fight.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward.

"The more witnesses we can get, it would be better for our prosecution. Especially in this case, where the victim is unavailable to be interviewed. Obviously that would be the strongest case for us if he could fill in the gaps we don't already know the answers to. Any witnesses would be helpful," said Walter Ozeki, acting major of the Criminal Investigation Division.
