Will Sinclair Turn WGN into a Fox News Competitor?
/There is some worry at WGN after Politico said that Sinclair might be looking to turn the cherished Chicago station into a Fox News competitor.
Politico says that Sinclair wants to take on Fox News when it comes to being the conservative voice. They point out that one option being to convert WGN, which reaches 80 million U.S. households, into a Fox News competitor.
And, word is that Sinclair might be looking to hire some former Fox News staffers to do just that. Politico says that Sinclair executive chairman David Smith is considering bringing Greta Van Susteren and former The Five host Eric Bolling aboard. James Rosen, the longtime chief Washington correspondent for Fox News is also in the running.
Interesting, given the fact that both Bolling and Rosen left Fox News under the cloud of sexual harassment allegations.
“They are taking meetings, and they’re laying out what their plans are,” said one television news agent, adding that word of Sinclair’s meetings is starting to make its way around the industry.
Stay tuned....
Editor's Note: Earlier, we said this was WGN in Chicago. It was not.
