Today is the last day of the May book (Thank God) and that means it is time for many longtime Anchors to say their finally goodbye.

In no other business does someone retire on a Wednesday, but this is ratings and this is TV news.

One of those that will be calling it a career is WIAT (Birmingham) Anchor Jim Dunaway.

Dunaway joined the station as a sports anchor in 2008. In 2015, he transitioned to the evening anchor desk alongside co-anchor Sherri Jackson.

“These years were a blessing to me and my family. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every viewer who took the time to watch. You have always made the dreams of a little boy from Alabaster, Alabama come true," said Dunaway.

“I have known Jim for a long time. He is a news and sports journalist who deeply cares for the people he works with and most of all the viewers. He will be missed at CBS 42 by everyone,” said Rob Martin, WIAT News Director.

Dunaway signs off tonight at 6PM.
