WREX Anchor Kristin Crowley was involved in a serious car crash on her way to work last week.

Crowley suffered three fractured bones in her right ankle, which will require surgery this week. She also suffered other minor cuts, scrapes and abrasions from the impact of the crash.

The crash happened last Monday. Crowley’s car hit a patch of gravel causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The car went off the road and struck a tree head on before coming to rest in a field.

Paramedics transported Crowley to the hospital by ambulance where she was treated for her injuries.

Due to Crowley’s injuries, she will be away from the 13 WREX anchor desk for some time as she recovers from surgery scheduled for this week. The length of her absence is not yet known, but it is likely she will miss much of the November book.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from the community since my accident. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have survived that wreck. I am focused on my recovery so that I can get back to doing what I love, and that’s working at WREX and telling you the stories that matter. I want to also thank my WREX family for their unwavering support through all of this, I could not do this without them. I’ll be back before you know it!” Crowley said.
