Gone in Portland

Just days before the November book is supposed to start, longtime KGW (Portland) Anchor Tracy Barry signed off from the Tegna station.

As to why she is saying goodbye now, Barry says it’s complicated. "These kind of decisions are complicated, and it just seemed like the right time," she says. "It's just a really personal thing."

But she adds, the business has changed.

"I think any newsroom is always in a state of change," says Barry. "The whole industry is changing from what I came in to do 40 years ago." Changes in the industry were "definitely a factor" in her leaving, Barry says. "I mean, I'm pretty old school. I tell stories."

She wanted to keep her sign off low key and this is how it was done.
