The Swann is Plucked in Atlanta

FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that WGCL in Atlanta had fired main anchor Ben Swann.

On Friday, Swann was suspended after word filtered out that he was restarting his conspiracy reporting website.

Yesterday the station released a single line press release from GM Lyle Banks: "Ben Swann is no longer an employee of WGCL-TV, effective immediately. We thank Ben for his contributions and wish him well."

Swann had to know this wasn't going to fly. A year ago, FTVLive told that was asking viewers to give him $50,000 so he could tell the story about how the US government intentionally created ISIS. He set up a crowdfunding page and had raised nearly $15,000 for other one of his conspiracy stories.

Somehow even after all that, he kept his job.

He was suspended from the station after his "Pizzagate" story and the Anchor had to know he was on thin ice.

But since that suspension, WGCL got a new News Director and new GM. Maybe Swann thought he could get away with his side projects under a new regime?

Or, maybe he knew that this would get him sacked and give him more pub for his tinfoil hat reporting projects.

It would seem if you wanted to leave the station and do your own thing, you would have just told the bosses you were leaving. By doing what he did, it was like he was asking to be fired.

He better hope that his tinfoil network pans out because the thought of him getting hired at another TV station seems like a longshot.

Who am I kidding, he could go to Sinclair in a second.
