Signing Off in Columbia

Longtime WIS (Columbia) Meteorologist Ben Tanner says that he is leaving the station after nearly 20 years. 

And, there will be no long goodbyes, he's leaving tomorrow. 

“He’s taking a leap of faith and embarking on a new adventure,” said WIS news director Mark Little in a statement.

Tanner said while he loves forecasting the weather, and always will, he is “ready for a different chapter.”

“I’m excited about the future,” he told The State while stressing that he leaves WIS-TV “on great terms.”

Tanner said he and his family have deep roots in the Midlands and won’t be leaving.

“I’m in talks with a bunch of different companies, considering a number of options,” he said.

But, despite the short notice, this is TV news, so you knew there would still be cake.
