We Call B.S....

Sorry, when we see bullshit, we have to call bullshit.

KOIN the Nexstar station in Portland sent out a press release talking about how they are "expanding" their news on the weekend.

Nexstar says that they are adding an additional half hour of news to their weekend newscast.

Beginning this weekend, KOIN’s early evening local newscasts will start at 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The additional half hour of news will be anchored by the KOIN weekend anchor team of Chris Holmstrom and Anna Canzano.

“Nexstar and our Portland station operations are dedicated to supporting the evolving needs and interests of our local communities, hometown businesses and public organizations,” said Pat Nevin, KOIN VP-GM. “KOIN 6 serves as a crucial source of essential news and breaking developments that are important to viewers in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Our weekend early evening news viewership has more than doubled since last year; therefore, we are elevating our commitment to our local viewers by launching a new 5 p.m. weekend newscast on Saturdays and Sundays.”

Expanded news?

Well, you might remember, a couple of weeks ago, FTVLive FIRST reported that KOIN was pulling the plug on their weekend morning newscasts.

Both newscasts ran for an hour each for a total of 2 hours of news on the weekend.

Their new expansion is adding just a half hour of news to both Saturday and Sunday, for a total of one hour.

Only in Nexstar's world, do you subtract and hour of news and call it an expansion.

BULLSHIT!
