Sinclair Show Host: I'm Not a Racist or Sexist

Sinclair has told the FCC that it plans to add more newscasts to the St. Louis market, once their deal to buy Tribune is approved.

Right now, Sinclair owns one station in the market and it does not do a single real newscast. Sinclair pulled the plug on news on KDNL years ago. They have added what they call is a non-traditional newscast with is hosted by Jamie Allman.

Media Matters calls Allman a  "pro-Trump syncophant" and "wannabe Sean Hannity" who uses "racist" and "misogynist" language.

Not exactly the kind of person you want delivering the news.

"We want to sound the alarm and make sure people know what Sinclair is doing," said Media Matters Angelo Carusone, the group's president.

"So in other words, they disagree with me," said Allman, who also hosts a conservative talk-radio show in St. Louis.

"I've never hid the fact that I support Donald Trump, or the fact that I'm  a conservative in most areas," he said. "And how do you defend yourself against being called racist or sexist? OK, I'm not."

As to the opinionated nature of his television show, Allman said he has never claimed it was a news show. "We're not a news show, never said we were a news show. We're commentary, issue-oriented commentary."

But, Sinclair calls this kind of commentary, "news". They place this kind of commentary in their newscasts from coast to coast.

Sadly, the FCC is going to approve that Sinclair/Tribune deal and when they do, it will be a huge blow to real Journalist, who cover real news and do so objectively.

As for Allman being a racist or sexist? We can't answer that question and sadly, we're not sure Sinclair can either. And to be honest, we're not sure that Sinclair really cares if he is?

But that's just our take on the matter.
