Anchor Fighting Fatal Disease is Leaving Late Newscast
/Back in July, FTVLive told you the sad news that longtime WAFB (Baton Rouge) Anchor Donna Britt had been diagnosed with ALS.
Despite the fact that she has a disease that will kill her, Britt said she's going to keep on working as an Anchor.
“I plan to continue working until the quality of my work suffers,” Donna said.
Well now, Britt has decided to give up the late newscast at the station.
On October 16th, Britt is stepping away from the 10 p.m. news anchor desk.
She will continue on the 6 p.m. newscast, but Elizabeth Vowell, who anchors the weekend newscasts, will join Greg Meriwether in co-anchoring the 10 p.m. news.
Britt made the announcement on her Facebook page Friday. "I'm moving to the day shift and after the six o'clock news I can go home and see my son, Louis," said Britt. "I've always worked nights and that meant I'm not home until 11 or 11:30."
"So, I only get to see my son in the morning and he's only home one more year before he's off to college and adult world," said Britt. "Now, I'll have a reasonable schedule … it's going to be sweet, exactly what our family needs. I'm going to have a much more sane life and my family will, too."
