San Francisco GM Leaving

The Media General/Nexstar station in SFO is losing its GM. In a memo and meeting with staff today, Ashley Messina announced she's leaving KRON at the end of the year.

There were rumors that Messina could be headed to KOIN, but according to her memo, that seems to be off the table. After all, who'd want to knowingly go to another Nexstar station?

The other talk in the industry, is that Nexstar EGO Perry Sook plans to sell KRON in the spectrum auction. Regardless, KRON continues its history of turmoil.

Here's the memo sent to staff:

Subject: Announcement - KRON

For those of you who were not able to attend the staff meeting earlier this morning, I announced that I will be moving on to my next challenge, and will be leaving KRON/KOIN at the end of the year.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at KRON and in the Bay Area, and cannot say enough good things about the people working here.

I want to thank you all for your warm acceptance of me into the KRON family, for allowing me the opportunity to be your leader, and for the hard work you all have contributed long before I came on board, but in particular the last 2 ½ years.  It’s an honor to work for a station of this magnitude and an honor to be working with such a dedicated group of individuals.  I am confident that there are great things in store for KRON, and with the strong department head leaders we currently have in place, you are in good hands. I look forward to spending time with everyone over the next month before my departure.

Ashley
