The Weather Channel Ditched Weather for News and Ratings Dropped

Last Friday, The Weather Channel decided to shove weather coverage aside and try their hand at news coverage.

TWC went wall to wall with coverage fire in the Illinois air control facility that grounded planes at Chicago airports and disrupted planes all over the midwest.

The weather in Chicago was clear, sunny and crisp, but that didn't stop TWC from placing all of it's focus on the Windy City.

So, how did The Weather Channel do in the ratings as a news outlet?

Not good.

During their no weather all never coverage, TWC pulled around 20,000 viewers in the prime 25-54 demo.

Maybe The Weather Channel should go back to covering weather and leave the news coverage to the other guys.

Just saying...
