Don't EVER Touch the Anchor Hair! (Updated)

If you work in a newsroom, then you know there is nothing more precious to a TV Anchor than their hair.

And God forbid if you ever touched an Anchor's hair.

The KUSA news team was out in the station garden doing an update complete with big cheesy smiles and fake laughter.

When Kathy Sabine asked Kyle Clark ‘do you smell’ and Kyle took it the wrong way. Although Kathy was quick to clarify she meant the ‘orange blossom’ (or did she?). Clark made a hairspray joke about Sabine's hair and then Sabine touched Clark's hair.

She broke the cardinal rule and Clark was quick with the "don't ever touch my hair again" comment.

Ahhhhhh....TV Anchors...they are a different breed for sure.

Let's go to the video:

Updated: After FTVLive posted the story, the station pulled the video from YouTube. The video that they posted. Ha ha

NBC News Signs Deal with Hook Up, Sext Service

Kik is a a mobile-messaging service that is often used to find hook-ups and sext.

NBC News is hoping that in between having sex or talking sex, people might want some news as well.

NBC announced that they have reached a deal with Kik so that users can can search for and send a message to the username “NBCNEWS.”

If they send a keyword such as “politics” or “technology,” they will immediately receive a current article and video content from NBCNews.com viewable in the Kik app. NBC News also has the ability to push messages to Kik users.

We think it is more likely that Kik users are searching for T&A than politics, but whatever.

NBC claims that they are the first TV news organization with a presence on Kik. Although, we're guessing a number of NBC News employees have used the service to quite a while.

Just not for news.

Could There be a Better Day for This?

The merger between Scripps and Journal Communications is complete.

On April Fools Day, the companies have announced that Scripps and Journal simultaneously spun off and merged their newspaper operations to form Journal Media Group and immediately thereafter merged their broadcast operations, making Scripps one of the nation’s largest independent TV station owners.

“Beginning today, the platform for our quality journalism and information products is a diverse group of local media brands – television, radio and digital – and we will reach nearly one in five U.S. television households,” said Rich Boehne, Scripps chairman, president and CEO. “We have a big voice that we will continue to use to create and distribute great content and marketing messages that build brand and sales for our advertisers.”

In other words, it's all about the money.

Alisyn Camerota: I Left Fox News for More Opportunity

FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that when Alisyn Camerota left Fox News that she was headed to CNN.

FTVLive was also FIRST to tell you that Camerota would be named the Anchor at New Day.

Since leaving Fox News, Camerota says that the number one question she gets, "Why did you leave Fox News?"

In a video posted on Facebook, Camerota says that she left FNC for more opportunity. She says she has gotten to do more at CNN in 8 months than she did at 8 years at Fox News.

She says working at CNN is the best job she has ever had and she is the most happy she has ever been.

There is no doubt that he post was directed to the Fox News faithful. At the end of the video she asks (begs?) those Fox viewers to tune into CNN and watch her.

Here is the video:

Last but not least... My answer to your MOST burning question New Day

CNN, Fox News to Simulcast Media Show

FTVLive has learned exclusively that CNN and Fox News plan to merge media shows Reliable Sources and Media Buzz and simulcast the show on both networks.

The show, to be titled "Reliable Buzz" will be hosted by Howard Kurtz and Brian Stelter and will feature a number of new segments.

Kurtz currently works at FNC, while Stelter works at CNN. Reliable Buzz will air at 11AM on Sundays on both networks.

Sources tell FTVLive about two of the new segments that will be introduced on the show. The segment hosted by Kurtz is titled, "Howie Hates Obama." It will feature some of Kurtz's tweets from the week where he bashes the President. Kurtz has been doing this since he joined Fox News and they figured why not make it into a segment?

Stelter will not be left out and will also have a special segment on the show. Stelter's segment will be called, "What Jeff told me to say." It will feature talking points from CNN boss Jeff Zucker that Stelter will feature in a powerpoint presentation.

The show will be taped at CNN because according to Fox News Spokesperson, "We don't want Stelter inside our building."

The show is expect to launch by the end of the month and Piers Morgan is expected to be the first guest.

Stay tuned....

Uh-Oh!

Speaking of CNN Media Critic......errrrrr..... Media Correspondent Brian Stelter, he might not want to take too many more days off from Reliable Sources.

Stelter was off from last Sunday's show and Frank Sesno stepped in as the guest host.

The Nielsen numbers show that the Sesno hosted show beat Stelter’s last three weeks in demo and his last two in total viewers.

There is no doubt that this one has to sting the thin skinned Stelter and we don't expect him to be taking more time off anytime soon.

Just saying....

Pot Charges Dropped against Reporter

Back in August, FTVLive told you that Cops clamped the cuffs on KRGV (Rio Grand Valley, TX) Reporter Kirk Chaisson on drug charges.

McAllen police arrested Chaisson after they say they caught with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Chaisson says that the Hidalgo County District Attorney's office has now dropped a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.

Chaisson has continued to appear on the air and work at KRGV since his arrest.

Anchor Reads Kanye West Lyrics

San Francisco morning radio team Sarah & Vinnie have been entertaining their audiences by performing dramatic readings of Kanye West songs for quite some time.

But the duo hit a crossroads recently. They felt they just couldn’t do the lyrics to West’s recently leaked song, “Awesome,” the justice it deserved.

So they enlisted KPIX Anchorman Allen Martin to take a shot.

Proving that song lyrics sound just like any other story in the B Block:

Atlanta Station Names New Morning Anchor

WGCL in Atlanta continues to shake up the Anchor line up at the station.

The Meredith owned station announced that they have hired Gloria Neal as their new morning Anchor.

“We’re very pleased to have someone with such a diverse news background and who is so committed to the community.  Gloria is going to be a fantastic addition to the CBS46 Morning News team,” said CBS46 News Director Larry Perret.

Neal comes to the A-T-L from KCNC in Denver where she spent the last seven years as a Reporter/Anchor.

“I’m thrilled to be coming to CBS46 and moving to Atlanta.  I can’t wait to get started with the morning news team and to get actively involved with the Atlanta community,” said Neal.

She starts June 1st.

WMUR Hires Print Guy as Political Reporter

WMUR (New Hampshire) has hired political journalist John DiStaso as the station's new Political Reporter.

DiStaso comes to the station from a News Editor job at New Hampshire Journal. Prior to that, for more than 30 years he worked as lead political reporter for the state’s largest newspaper: the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Now he ventures to the dark side and TV news.

“We have a historic and exciting presidential primary season ahead of us, and across the country all eyes are on New Hampshire,” DiStaso said. “But the most important audience is the one right here in the Granite State. I’m thrilled to be a part of the WMUR team delivering breaking political news and analysis to the voters.”

He starts next week.

"Retired" Barbara Walters Gets New Show on Discovery Channel

Barbara Walters supposedly retired from TV last year. At the time we said we didn't believe it and it appears we were right.

The "retired" Walters  is getting a new show, on Discovery's Investigation Discovery Channel.

The show, "American Scandal with Barbara Walters," will feature updates to some of Walters' most famous interviews, as well as material never seen on television, including questions that may have been cut for time.

“She is an amazing woman at any age,” said Henry Schleiff, group president at Discovery Communications, speaking to reporters at Discovery’s upfront presentation Tuesday. “I have seen the rough cut of the first episode, the first interview. It is just an amazing, amazing thing, what was never aired originally, plus the update.”

H/T Capital New York

Signing Off in South Bend

Another longtime Anchor is leaving the TV business for the world on PR.

WSJV Anchor Traci Capellman will leave the television station on May 20 to become the Public Relations & Communications Director for The Bradley Company and The South Bend Clinic.

Capellman has been with the station almost two decades.

General Manager Merry Ewing said, “Traci leaves incredibly big shoes to fill. She's been a consistent voice for quality journalism both on air and in our newsroom. We are deeply appreciative for the nearly twenty years of commitment she's brought to work every day. We wish her well as she embarks on this new chapter in her professional life. We are gratified that she will continue to be a part of the Michiana Community.”

"I have lived my television news dream for more than 20 years and it's been an incredible run," Traci Capellman says. "But, more recently, I've found myself longing for a new challenge and work life balance with two little girls and a busy family, a family that has a schedule very opposite of the nightly news. For me, this opportunity is another dream come true, to be able to share all of the knowledge of a successful career and embark on a second career in public relations with two such well respected organizations. The partnership of this position, alone, shows their teams' creativity, can-do attitude and dedication to the community. I couldn't be more excited to be on their teams."

Ewing says the station has launched a nationwide search for Capellman's replacement.

Comedy Central Stands By New Daily Show Host

This morning, FTVLive told you about some controversial tweets sent out by newly named Daily Show host Trevor Noah.

The South African sent out tweets in the past that seemed to show that he did not respect Jewish people or women very much.

Comedy Central has released a statement about the Noah tweets and they are chalking it up a comedian that pushes the boundaries.

Ummmm....ok?
