CBS Revels Rory McIlroy's iPhone Passcode

Yesterday during the PGA Championship, some bad weather moved in and play was suspended. CBS was stuck trying to fill over an hour with no golf action.

At one point they showed world no. 1 and eventual PGA Champion Rory McIlroy sitting in the clubhouse.

McIlroy did not know he was on TV and picked up his iPhone and then entered his passcode on the lock screen.

He ended 4589 which also happens to be his birthday, May 4, 1989 (Note: Europeans record dates differently than Americans and list it by day, month, year.) . It wasn't long before the Twitterers was sending out Rory's iPhone passscode.

“Rory’s iPhone” was soon trending on Twitter.

Rory saw the tweets and sent out one of his own:

Not that having McIlroy's iPhone code is really worth anything, unless you actually had his iPhone. But, if he used such a predictable passcode for that, we're guessing it might be the same on his ATM card. That account could be worth millions.

Just saying....

Name Dropping is For Losers

It is no secret that FTVLive just loves Robin Meade. We know Robin personally and along with being drop dead gorgeous, she is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Robin met up with Actor Morgan Freeman over the weekend and she tweeted that Freeman gave her some great advice:

We could not agree more, you should never drop names.

In fact, last night I was sitting around with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and we were talking about how lame name droppers really are.

FTVLive will have more later, right now, Kate Upton and I are headed to lunch.

TTYL!

And Yet Another News Anchor is Busted

This Summer has seen a number of News Anchors thrown in the slammer.

The latest to get pinched by the Po Po is KOLO 8 (Reno) News Anchor Pat Hambright.

The station says that Hambright is facing multiple charges after his arrest late Saturday night.

The charges include misdemeanor “DUI, above legal limit, 1-ST”, felony “child abuse or neglect, 1-ST” and misdemeanor “fail to decrease speed or use due care.”

One of Hambright’s children was in the car at the time of the arrest in Reno.

KOLO 8 management takes such charges seriously. The station says that Hambright is on leave from KOLO 8.

In other words, don't expect to see him on their air again.

Props to KOLO for reporting the story.

CBS Changing Affiliates in Indy

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 10.41.42 AM.png

WISH in Indy is losing their affiliation with CBS.

The network announced that they are jumping over to Tribune’s current CW affiliate WTTV as of January 1st.

“This comprehensive agreement further expands our strong partnership with CBS and allows us to provide an array of outstanding programming, including leading live sports, news and entertainment,” said Tribune Broadcasting President Larry Wert.

There is no question that this is a big blow to WISH. CBS carries the AFC Conference of  NFL football, the same conference that the Indianapolis Colts play in. The dollars lost on that only will be very high.

But, WISH can survive if they are willing to spend money and invest heavily in news.

If WISH is going to stay a player in the market, the only way they will be able to do that is by beefing up the news department.

It's just a question of if they will do that or not.

Stay tuned...

Rioters Damage St. Louis Station's Live Truck

KMOV was covering what was supposed to be a peaceful prayer vigil in Ferguson, Missouri. It wasn't.

It started as a prayer vigil Sunday evening to remember a young man shot by police. Soon the prayers turned to into full scale riots and looting.

Angry mobs smashed windows, set fires and looted businesses.

Some of those windows that were broken out, were in the KMOV live truck.

Let's go to the video:

Get Your News Car Broken into - There's an App for That

Sometimes - but not always - news reporters get exactly what they are looking for when covering a story.

A News Crew from WUSA in Washington, D.C., they got a little more.

CBS News reports that the news crew's vehicle was burglarized while they were working on a story about a controversial app that alerts people to "sketchy" neighborhoods, WUSA reports.

The crew had locked their news van on a street in Petworth in Northwest, D.C. while they were out in the neighborhood conducting interviews. When they returned they found the lock had been popped out of the door of their news van, and that most of the crew's gear had been stolen.

Because the thieves stole the cell phone of one of the crew members, they were able to use the "Find my iPhone" app to track down some of their goods to dumpsters in another D.C. neighborhood.

The crew was able to recover some of the stolen items from a dumpster.

Anchor Busted for DUI

FTVLive FIRST told you last week (don't worry the other sites will get around to the story Today). that KTBS (Shreveport) Anchor Jody Lowery was busted by Louisiana State Police for drunk driving.

KTBS has not reported the story of their own Anchor being arrested and Lowery has gone silent on Social media.

Lowery has not posted to her Facebook page since July 27th, 4 days before she was busted by police.

Lowery changes her Facebook profile picture every few weeks. Back in mid May she changed her profile picture to this one of her holding a drink:

One picture we doubt she will use in Facebook profile, is the mug shot, taken after her arrest:

We are still waiting on the station to report the news of her arrest.

Anchor Rants at Bike Riders (Updated)

Madison, WI is considered one of the most bike-friendliest cities in the world.

But, don't tell that to WMTV Morning Anchor Christine Bellport.

Bellport took to Facebook to rant against these damn bicyclists that should realize that she is a TV anchor and has places to go.

A few more rants from Bellport and Madison might lose it's friendliest bike city status before long.

Let's just hope she doesn't go all Tony Stewart next time she's behind that group of bike riders.

Update: Bellport has now pulled down the Facebook post.

Kicked to the Curb in Erie

Sources at WSEE in Erie tell FTVLive that after 31 yearsLilly Broadcasting told Executive Producer Scott Bremner that his services are no longer needed.

Insiders say that decision WAS NOT mutual.

In his time at WSEE, Bremner had been a Photographer, Editor, Producer, Director, Anchor, Reporter, News Director and Managing Editor.

For now, he'll be unemployed.

His bio remains on the station's website....for now.

Philly Weatherman Comes Out

WPVI Meteorologist Adam Joseph made some big announcements on a recent broadcast.

Joseph announced that he had just become a father and that he was in a gay relationship.

Mainline Media News says that Joseph, and his partner of five years, Karl, became fathers of a strapping newborn, Jacob, who weighed in at 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 21 inches in length. That is one big bambini.

By becoming a father, Joseph increased his own happiness. His Facebook page brims with delight as he talks about new chambers of his and Karl’s heart being opened, Jacob being stubborn to arrive, and his son’s mellowness, attentiveness, and his constantly looking around.

I love the fact that an anchor can go on air, profess his love to another man and give us all the details of his new son.

But God knows, if the station ever fires Joseph they will have no comment, because they don't talk about personal issues.

Oh the irony.....

Chicago Station Hires EP from The Weather Channel

WLS in Chicago has hired a new EP for the morning newscast.

Weather Channel Executive Producer Jesse Hamilton is leaving Atlanta and headed to the Windy City.

According to his Weather Channel bio, Hamilton has been responsible for 13 hours of live programming during the week.

“He’s a whiz at showcasing, breaking coverage and social media, all skills that will translate well to our morning newscasts,” WLS News Director Jennifer Graves.

Another One Suspended from ESPN

It seems not a week goes by without someone being suspended at ESPN.

The latest to get sent to the bench is host Max Kellerman after he admitted Monday on ESPN-LA Radio show Mason & Ireland that he hit his then-girlfriend, Erin, several years ago. Max and Erin have now been married for 20 years.

"Max Kellerman will return to ESPNLA Radio and SportsNationon Thursday," ESPN said in a statement.

Max explained in the story that he and Erin were at a college party and were drunk at the time. Max said that Erin slapped him, and so he slapped her back.

Kellerman is the third ESPN host to be suspended in the past two weeks and the second to be suspended for remarks related to domestic violence. Stephen A. Smith landed a week-long suspension on July 29 after making comments about NFL player Ray Rice's suspension for assaulting his girlfriend. Earlier this week, Dan Le Batard received a two-day suspension for putting up a Miami billboard that mocks NBA star LeBron James.

Tine in next week to see which ESPN personality will be suspended.
