Dropping the F-Bomb at Big Ben

Sky News Reporter John Craig dropped an on-air clanger this morning when he blurted out the 'F-word' - after being interrupted by Big Ben.

As Big Ben's bell rang, Criag turns toward Westminster and says: "Oh, fuckin' hell" before looking around angrily.

The mistake was on video, but it did not stop it from making it on air.  Back in the studio, an apologetic presenter tells viewers: "We do apologize for that, that was a much earlier recording and our apologies here from Sky News."

Anchor Returns to Soul Killing Newscast

Beverly Kidd left TV news to focus on her family.

In a promo for a show Kidd hosted called "Angels in the Neighborhood" she called TV News "Soul Killing" and made it sound like she could never go back to that life.

But as FTVLive FIRST told you over the Weekend (yes the other guys were taking the weekend off) Kidd is returning to WTKR and will anchor the SOUL killing 5PM newscast.

We're guessing the paycheck outweighs bot the family and the soul killing.

Here's the clip where she calls TV News out and acts like she will never go back to anchoring such garbage.

Ummmm... I'm Sorry....sort of

Fox News guest says that she is sorry for her comments as to why some idiot went on a killing spree in Santa Barbara.

While on Fox News, guest Dr. Robi ludwig said "When I was first listening to him, I was like, ‘Oh, he’s angry with women for rejecting him,'" Ludwig said. "Then I started to have a different idea: 'Is this somebody who is trying to fight against his homosexual impulses?'"

"Was he angry with women because they were taking away men from him?"

Now she says that she is sorry for the comment. She rote on Facebook:

"I was misunderstood on @FoxNews this weekend, when I was asked to hypothesize several factors which could have triggered ‪#‎ElliotRoger‬ 's spree killing. I in NO way meant to indicate being a homosexual or having homosexual impulses is a cause for spree killing. My job on @judgejeanine was to [assess] several possible triggers for #ElliotRoger and his behavior ‪#‎peace‬ ‪#‎forequalrights‬ However, I apologize to all those who felt offended. That was never my intention."

One Year Later and Fired Anchor is Still Bitter

One Year Later and Fired Anchor is Still Bitter

It was a year ago that St. Louis station KMOV fired Anchor Larry Conners after he posted on Facebook that the IRS was targeting him because of an interview he did with President Obama.

It was then reveled that the IRS had been trying to collect the money that Conners owed him long before the Obama and interview and what Connors was saying was simple not true.

The station wisely decided to fire Connors and move on.

Connors is still on Facebook and is still taking every chance he can get to attack KMOV GM Mark Pimentel and then News Director Sean McLaughlin.

Connors basically pleads with his Facebook fans to go to KMOV's FB page and post support messages for him and to trash the station's social media page.

Over the past few days, Connors has posted 3 different items to FB attacking the station.

What Connors did not point out that since he left the station, the shows that he was anchoring have gone up in the ratings.

Oops!

His latest rant about the station he posted to the social media site is up after the jump.

Left on an Island

What little staff that is left at CNN's now small Atlanta Headquarters are desperate to try and come up with something that Jeff Zucker likes. But, according to Page Six, Zucker is like Mikey from the years ago Life cereal ad, he hates everything.

Page Six writes that teams in Atlanta are desperate to find new formats to impress the top brass. The source told us, “We are feverishly trying to come up with something that Jeff likes. Every time we present something, he hates it. Secondly, we can’t find talent who wants to come to CNN. No one wants to come because we scrap things after a year. Every talent agency we contact can’t get us anyone . . . Even talent from larger local markets refuse to come here, because they are afraid.” Meanwhile, the source added, “Don Lemon is gunning for a prime-time spot, but Zucker isn’t sold.”

Anchors Away at Jacksonville Station

FTVLive FIRST told you on Friday that main Anchors at Cox owned  WTEV/WAWS Action News Jacksonville are being informed that their contracts are not being renewed she they come up.

Sources tell FTVLive that the station is blowing up the entire man in Anchor team. Word is that Mark Spain, Paige Kelton and Tera Barz are just some of the Anchors that have been informed that they will be losing their anchor gigs as their contracts come up.

Sources tell FTVLive that other Anchors at the station have also been informed that they will be off the desk when their window opens up. The station is giving no reason for the luge and why they are basically going to start over from scratch.

"Out of respect for our employees, we don't publicly discuss personnel matters," News Director Bob Longo told FTVLive.

FTVLive hears that the station wants most of the changes to happen by fall. The station has basically pulled all mention of the Anchors out of promos currently running on air. Promos touting the station's work in the just completed May book so no pictures of talent and makes no mention of anchors.

Word is that corporate suits from Cox were seen in the station in the past few weeks, a number of close door meetings took place.

Newsroom sources tell FTVLive that morale has already sunk to very low levels. "Anchors are going on the air knowing that they are losing in jobs in stye coming weeks," said one newsroom staffer to FTVLive.

The station aired promos in May promising to bring viewers "every story" with "every detail" but refuses to talk about the details of a massive Anchor shake up like the station has never seen before.

Taking a Bite out of the Weatherman

WUSA Weather Anchor Howard Bernstein celebrated dog bite prevention week, by getting bit by a dog.

Bernstein says that he was visiting family in Birmingham when the family's dog made a meal out of his face.

Bernstein writes that it happened so quickly. One moment, I was watching TV, sitting next to my 20-year-old nephew, when something fell on the floor. I reached down to get it. Their dog must have felt I was challenging it when my face got too close to his and the next thing I knew, the right side of my face and right ear had been bitten pretty substantially. There were less serious punctures in the right front lower cheek.

Over the next three hours, I would go to the ER and get treated for the wound. The good doctors at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Medical Center took great care of me and I expect to heal well.

Hope this Guy Gets to At Least Start the Job

WHAS (Louisville) has finally named a new News Director. You may remember that this is the station that hired Josh Eure from KPNX in Phoenix, but fired him before he every started because of some traffic arrests.

Now, the station has hired WZTV Assistant News Director David Seals to be WHAS's new News Director.

Seals leaves WZTV in 3 days.

Let's hope WHAS doesn't fire him before he starts.

That was Quick

Back in April, FTVLive told you about Giacomo Luca, a Chicago college student that was commuting 4 hours from Chi-Town to Lima Ohio to anchor and produce the weekend news at WLIO in Lima, OH.

Well Luca has now graduated in the past month and has already landed his second job in TV news.

He has been hired by KFVS  in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as a bureau reporter. It was a jump in 106 markets.

“I believe that my new position with KFVS in a considerably larger market with a larger corporation will better help me advance toward my goal of becoming an international correspondent,” Luca told Robert Feder

If he keeps moving up at this rate, we should see Luca anchoring the network news by Thursday.

Stay tuned....

Not Exactly Batman

The weatherman is supposed to be the tough guy that looks a tornado right in the mouth and says "get the hell out of here!"

Then there's WEYI (small town Michigan) Meteorologist Jason Adams.

Adams was was giving his Memorial Day forecast, when a bat got into the studio and was flying around.

Adams tried to keep his cool but looked more like a school girl afraid of a spider.

So much for the macho weatherman.

You can watch the video here.

Well you Can Chuck that Ad Campaign

A shake up is going down at KTTV in LA.

Sources tell FTVLive that starting this morning, KTTVs newly installed Anchor Marla Tellez will move to early morning to anchor with Tony McEwing.

Araksya Karapetyan changes seats with Tellez going to Good Day LA.

Which means the station also needs to change the billboards and bus boards that they paid to promote the other anchor team.

Bolting in Buffalo

WGRZ Anchor/Reporter Mary Friona is leaving the station to......yes you guessed it....spend more time with her family.

Friona made the announcement in a Facebook post.

"It has been a tough decision and I've gone back and forth for some time," she wrote. "I know that it is the right decision for me and my family. I am very happy and I hope you will be very happy for me! Thank you for all of your support, story ideas and encouragement over the years."

Friona, who is the anchor on the 11 a.m. newscast and also does the morning product test on "Daybreak," wrote that her last day will be June 13.

WGRZ News Director Jeff Woodard wrote in an email that the station is "working on both a short-term and long-term plan to replace" Friona.

In the email Woodard praised Friona "as an integral part of the success of 'Daybreak' for the past 16 years, as her 'As Seen on TV' product test has been one of the most popular franchises in the market.

"We will miss her engaging personality that came out in those tests, just as we will miss the fantastic storytelling. Mary has shared incredible stories of individuals and families with powerful messages of hope and survival... Mary, we wish you much happiness as you focus your attention and strength on raising your beautiful children and taking care of your entire family.

She had been at the station for 16 years.

Former Philly Sportscaster Anchored the Show Drunk

They always do this after they get caught.

Former Philadelphia sportscaster Don Tollefson who was arrested in February for allegedly stealing more than $100,000 from unsuspecting victims in a series of charity scams, is opening up about his struggles with addiction.

Separated from his wife and living in a North Philadelphia apartment, Tollefson says he is 223 days clean as of  last Thursday.

Tollefson told the The Bucks County Courier-Times. his battle with alcohol addiction spanned nearly five decades, beginning when he was just 16 years old. He was initially able to hide the abuse from his family and coworkers. “There were days when I would drink and then go do the sports on TV, and I'd be fine,” he said. “You couldn't tell.”

But, Tollefson said, the alcoholism was compounded by a prescription painkiller habit he picked up after a car accident in 2008, and he began suffering from blackouts. Tollefson checked into a rehabilitation facility in October, four months before his arrest.

There, he said, he learned of the havoc addiction is wreaking on families across the country. “We are in danger of losing a large part of our generation to drugs,” Tollefson said. “It is happening in every American community. Young people are starting earlier and they're using more serious drugs. The ones I met in rehab didn't know where to turn.”

Tollefson told The Courier-Times that he hopes to eventually use his experiences to become a motivational speaker, educating schoolchildren and families about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. “I want to tell them that they are not alone, that there are people who can help them,” he said. “I lived with a hidden addiction, so I can talk to families about how kids are hiding theirs.”

Tollefson is due in court this week for a preliminary hearing in connection with the theft charges.

Giving Back to the Alma Mater

Barbara Walters has decided to give many of her tapes, papers and photos from her five decades in journalism to Sarah Lawrence College, her alma mater.

Walters made the announcement in a surprise appearance at the suburban New York college's commencement Friday.

The kids at the college could be heard saying "what are tapes?" and "who's the old lady?"

CNN Anchor Fareed Zakaria gave Friday's commencement address, but was upstaged when Walters' made the surprise visit.

Yahoo Not Happy with Couric's Dud Interviews

It looks like Yahoo's Global News Anchor is not getting the big gets that the company had hoped for.

Katie Couric was paraded out as Yahoo's hire that would get the company back on track.

But so far, her interviews have been duds and according to the NY Daily News Couric's work is  under scrutiny by the Internet company’s honchos — including CEO Marissa Mayer — who are wondering why the peppy former talk-show host isn’t bringing in big-name interviews.

“Her bosses are unhappy,” says our source. “They thought Katie was a huge get and that huge stars would follow, with major interviews. Instead she’s had two that are memorable, and one was a book tour.”

In Couric’s debut interview for the site, she did a 52-minute sit-down with former Defense Secretary Robert Gates in January. He was promoting his book, “Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War,” about his roles in the Bush and Obama administrations.

In March, Couric interviewed former mayor Michael Bloomberg, discussing charter schools in his first major interview since leaving office last December. The taped interview premiered during Yahoo’s 8 a.m. news digest.

Couric also sat down with “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston, Aereo CEO Chet Kanojia and former President Lyndon Johnson’s daughters, Luci Baines Johnson and Lynda Bird Johnson Robb.

Another source tells us it’s likely Couric will bring more big names to the Web interviews after her canceled talk show, “Katie,” finishes its run in June.

It was announced last November that Couric took the job at Yahoo for $6 million a year. The seed was planted in April 2013, when she was invited to a Yahoo retreat in the Turks and Caicos.

Couric’s rep declined to comment. However, a Yahoo employee insists: “Katie is exceeding expectations for the amount of time she has to dedicate to Yahoo, with provocative newsmaking interviews, while also doing her TV show.”
