Ummmmm? Jeff You Left Something Out

In an effort to get some ratings, CNN ran a special on Jay Leno, who isn't even on their network (yet).

On Friday, the cable news net aired a look at Jay Leno's life and career on NBC's Tonight Show.

But, the CNN special left out a key part of the story.

CNN didn't even mention the 2009 Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien debacle that was orchestrated by then NBC boss Jeff Zucker.

Yes the same Jeff Zucker that is ruining CNN right now.

We're guessing that Zucker didn't seem that part needed to be in the script.

Shaking my head....

Well that Went as Expected

You know that when Fox News host Bill O'Reilly and President Obama sat down for their Super Bowl day chat, that it wasn't going to be a love fest.

In fact it was tense from the very “OK, Bill, you’ve got a long list of my mistakes,” Obama said to The O’Reilly Factor host near the start of their 10-minute live interview on Fox.

Deadline says, that remark — in response to a question from O’Reilly whether it was the biggest mistake of Obama’s presidency when he told Americans no one would lose their healthcare under Obamacare — was one of a number of points on which the two butted heads.

The duo sparred almost from the beginning in the interview live from the White House this afternoon. Obama also took on Fox News Channel when O’Reilly asked him about reports the IRS was investigating Tea Party-related groups for political reasons. “These kind of things keep resurfacing in part because you and your TV station will promote them,” Obama said. “When you look there have been multiple hearings.” Obama denied any corruption, just some “boneheaded decisions.”

Earlier, the Fox News host interrupted Obama with a “you’re not going to answer that?” as the President replied to a question about why he didn’t fire Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius after the botched online launch of Obamacare.

In the end, the battle between O'Reilly and Obama was more intense than the Seahawks clobbering of the Broncos.

WDKY (Lexington) Anchor Jennifer Nime Palumbo says this Feb Book will her last.

Palumbo is ending her second stint as the co-anchor of the Fox 56 10 O'Clock News at the end of February.

The Herald Leader says that Palumbo, who co-anchored the early newscast from 1997 to 2004 and returned to the seat in 2009, said she made a lifestyle decision after years of missing her daughter and son's school events and bedtimes.

"Since 2009, my husband has put the children to bed every night and taken them to events, and he has been wonderful," says Palumbo, who is married to Joe Palumbo, president of Palumbo Lumber. "I want to be part of that.

"The 10 O'Clock News is a great job. It's a signature show, and Marvin Bartlett and all the people I work with are great. But this was not a hard decision to make."

WDKY general manager Ronna Corrente said, "She's been a great part of our success on the10 O'Clock News. But she just doesn't want to work nights anymore, and I get that."

Corrente said Palumbo was key to incorporating social media into news coverage and said that was an extension of her strong connection to viewers.

"Jennifer has the pulse of Central Kentucky," Corrente said. "She knows what's going on, and she knows how important it is to get information out there."

From Carolina to NYC

A Charlotte News Director is headed to the Big Apple to work at NBC.

Corrie Harding, news director of WCNC for four years, will be leaving the station at the end of the month to take a job with NBC News in New York.

In his new position, Harding will work as director of news partnerships with NBC, helping manage initiatives between the major shows like "Nightly News" and "Meet the Press" and network affiliates.

Harding, 49, said Friday that his departure had nothing to do with the recent ownership change at WCNC, which has been taken over by Gannett from its former owner, Belo.

"It was just a great opportunity," Harding said. "It was something I had to seriously investigate, and it ended up working out."

Harding came to WCNC, an NBC affiliate, in November 2009. Previously he was news director at the NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh.

Harding's departure comes after the station's news department won regional Emmy awards in five categories last weekend.

Under Harding's leadership, the station expanded its morning newscast and 4 p.m. broadcast by 30 minutes each. He also led the staff during last year's Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

No successor has been named. His is the second major position at the station to go vacant. General manager Tim Morrissey retired at the time of the Gannett purchase.

New York Anchor Found Dead

image.JPG

Sad news from the Big Apple.

News 12 Long Island anchor Judy Martin was remembered by colleagues Saturday as a tenacious, award-winning journalist and "free spirit" who spoke often about balancing her career and personal life.

Stunning station employees, Martin died suddenly in her Halesite home on Friday night. She was 49.

Suffolk County police, who were called to the home at 7:30 p.m., said criminality is not suspected.

As of Saturday night, the cause of death had not been determined. Martin's cousin Philip Gallagher said she died of natural causes.

Martin last appeared on the anchor desk Thursday night. She had been scheduled to anchor the 5 p.m. Friday broadcast but didn't show up, raising concerns, the station said.

A New York Emmy Award winner, Martin began working at Woodbury-based News 12 in 1988. During her 25-year broadcast news career, she covered a long list of major stories, including the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and the 1990 crash of Avianca Flight 52 on Long Island.

"She was an aggressive reporter" who wanted to know and explore the world around her, said Patrick Dolan, news director of News 12.

"She was a free spirit as a person, and I think that quality carried over into her natural sense of curiosity as she would tackle an assignment," he said.

During her career, she also worked for Marketplace Report, National Public Radio, CNBC Business Radio, World Vision Report and BBC Radio 3, according to her website, worklifenation.com, where she wrote about balancing professional and home life. An accredited yoga teacher, she gave workshops on stress management and released a CD on meditation.

The day she died, Martin tweeted a dozen times on a variety of subjects, sharing links to articles on careers, leadership and the Super Bowl.

Alan Goodman, executive producer at News 12, described Martin, whom he knew for about 25 years, as a hard-nosed reporter and "a very well-prepared anchor."

"She was a very empathetic person in general," he said. "She just loved doing stories about people."

Colleagues said Martin, who never married, was involved in women's issues and volunteered at hospices.A 2000 Newsday profile on Martin said she served on the board of directors for River Fund, a Florida-based volunteer organization serving people with HIV and AIDS.

100 Days and Counting.....

Terri Hernandez Rosales

Terri Hernandez Rosales

Tonight at 5PM, it will mark 100 days since KNBC Spokeswoman Terri Hernandez Rosales promised to call us back "in 2 minutes."

We called Rosales back in October to confirm a story that we broke (which by the way, FTVLive was dead on with the story) and asked us for some quick information.

Rosales told us she was headed in a quick meeting, but would give us a call back in two minutes.

That was 100 days ago and we haven't heard from her since.

The clock continues to tick away on the bottom right side of this page until she calls us back. Above it is the Sean Hannity moves to Florida clock.

Hannity made the claim that he is sick of paying New York State taxes on the millions of dollars that he makes and he's moving to Florida.

The Hannity clock ticks on until Hannity's moving van crosses into the Sunshine State.

Piers Morgan Tees off on Larry King

Screen Shot 2014-01-31 at 5.04.13 AM.png

Piers Morgan skin seems to be getting thinner by the day.

The failing CNN anchor has turned his attention away guns and calling FTVLive a mad blogger to take out some of his frustration on the guy he replaced, Larry King.

Last night Morgan was on one of his Twitter rants dissing King every chance he got.

Screen Shot 2014-01-31 at 5.12.01 AM.png

Morgan answered one tweets about Larry King with the reply "Larry who."

King recently said that CNN has problems and might be better off just running episodes of Sponge Bob.

Morgan has watched his ratings fall since taking over for King and as FTVLive FIRST reported, CNN boss Jeff Zucker is looking to pull the plug on Morgan at 9PM on CNN.

Larry King might be old, but it's Piers Morgan thats bitter.
