No Shave Today

If November sweeps showed us anything, it's that NBC's Matt Lauer can grow hair on the bottom of his head better than the top.

In a sweeps stunt, the male anchors on the Today Show ditched their razors in an effort to raise ratings....errrrr.... raise awareness for men's health.

When the month ends, they'll shed their facial hair and make contributions to chosen charities.

They've set a goal of raising $10,000 for each of the non-profit organizations.

Luckily for viewers, Savannah Guthie and Natalie Morales did not take part in No Sahve November.

Geraldo wants Lawsuit Throw Out

Geraldo wants Lawsuit Throw Out

Geraldo Rivera took time out from taking naked selfies of himself to request that lawsuit brought against him by the William Morris Endeavor talent agency be dismissed.

WME claims it is owed commission of more than $1 million for work done on Fox News since 2010.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that the civil suit brought by WME in September in the New York Supreme Court said the agency had represented Rivera for more than 25 years, "as he rose from news correspondent to a household name."

WME claimed that it negotiated Rivera’s deal with Fox News, which ran through 2011, but that he stopped paying them a 10 percent commission at the beginning of 2010, two years before the deal ended.

More after the leap.

Headed to Hartford

Meteorologist Justin Ryan is headed back to Hartford.

Ryan is headed to WTNH as the Weekend Weather Anchor. He is no stranger to Connecticut, Ryan worked at News 12 Connecticut back in the mid 2000's. He also worked in New York and Philly.

He broke the news on his Facebook page early this morning posting:

It's my pleasure to announce I'm headed back to the state where my career started; just more polished and seasoned (no pun intended). I'll be joining WTNH, the ABC station in Hartford - New Haven, CT in mid December. I'm zealous to begin, as the weekend evening meteorologist, also appearing on the 5 & 6pm newscasts three days each week. 2013 has been a year of change for me; good ones, and I'll close out the year in style! Thank you for your support, as always!

Really?!

People that ask what's wrong with TV News now-a-days need to look no further than Action 4 News KGBT in Harlingen, Texas and their Reporter Brett Crandall.

Along with being a Reporter, Crandall also is the PR flack for the local Church of Latter-Day Saints.

Wearing his PR hat Crandall sent out this media release:

Then wearing his KGBT Reporter hat, Crandall covered the event. This is all kind of wrong and made more so when he never disclosed his relationship with the event.

Jim Romenesko reached out to Crandall and the station. Crandall hasn't responded, but KGBT News Director Kimberly Wyatt did. “I am unaware of much of the information listed below,” she wrote. “I will be looking into it.”

If Crandall isn't fired, Wyatt should be.

It's that simple.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

It appears that the Gannett stations are making their websites to look just like their big sister's.

It seems to be starting in the smaller markets and working it's way up. Gannett owned WGRZ in Buffalo has changed up their site, taking on exact look of the USA Today website.

Newscast Studio points out that WGRZ's website is copying from USA Today, including the animations, left and right browsing arrows and fixed, color coded header and navigation bar.

It is likely that after some tweaking you will see the design rolled out at other Gannett stations until they all look virtually the same.

How exciting.....NOT

Raycom to Operate Big Easy Station

Starting next month, WVUE (New Orleans) is going to be run by Raycom.

Broadcasting and Cable says that Raycom and Louisiana Media Company have agreed to a shared services agreement where Raycom will provide operational services to WVUE New Orleans, which continues to be owned by Louisiana Media Company and Tom Benson.

WVUE, a Fox affiliate, is the only TV station owned by Benson, who also owns the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans.

"We are excited to expand in such a creative way, while maintaining our local ownership. This collaboration allows both companies to become stronger in the region right away," said Benson. "The personnel we have locally have worked incredibly hard to grow WVUE Fox 8 in the right direction. We're looking forward to seeing the continued results of those efforts as we partner with Raycom Media."

An internal Raycom newsletter had reported the sale of WVUE to Raycom last month, which was denied by Louisiana Media Company.

Joe Cook, president of Louisiana Media Company and general manager of WVUE, said the arrangement "allows our station to immediately benefit from Raycom's scale and strong regional presence."

WVUE is in DMA No. 51. Alabama-based Raycom has a cluster of stations in the southeast, but does not own in New Orleans.

"We're excited about this partnership which provides more depth and resources in covering issues of importance to the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region," said Paul McTear, president and CEO of Raycom. "Raycom has served viewers in Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Shreveport and Biloxi for years. The addition of New Orleans strengthens and reinforces our commitment to Louisiana and the Gulf Coast."

Sarah Palin Cancels Lauer Interview

lauer2.jpg

Sarah Palin is taking her ball and going home.

As FTVLive told you, Palin was scheduled to do and interview with Matt Lauer and the Today Show.

Not anymore.

Fox News says Palin has now canceled Lauer's scheduled trip to Wasilla, not because Palin is upset with Lauer or the "Today" show, but as a protest against NBC for not taking action against MSNBC's Martin Bashir.

Tim Crawford, treasurer of Palin's political action committee, had told NBC News President Deborah Turness and MSNBC President Phil Griffin that "Americans deserve to know that your network doesn't condone violent and hateful rhetoric."

Bashir apologized to Palin and to viewers Monday for his comments, which he called "totally unacceptable." In response to a speech in which she likened the national debt to slavery, the onetime "Nightline" co-anchor said Palin should be subjected to an ancient slavery punishment in which someone would defecate and urinate in her mouth.

MSNBC has not suspended Bashir, despite imposing a two-week suspension on another talk show host, actor Alec Baldwin, for hurling an anti-gay slur at a photographer outside his New York apartment. The network has had nothing to say publicly about Bashir's sliming of Palin.

If you ask FTVLive, Palin shouldn't have pulled out of the interview with Lauer.

If everyone stopped talking to NBC News because of some idiot on MSNBC said something stupid...there wouldn't be anyone left for NBC to talk to.

As for not having to go to Alaska in December? We're thinking Lauer maybe OK with all of this.

Of course when Palin wants some face time, she'll go crawling back to NBC begging for it.
