Starting Over in South Florida

The last we heard from CBS MoneyWatch Anchor Ashely Morrison, she was claiming that her husband former WCBS Anchor Rob Morrison had hit and abused her.

Rob was arrested twice by police for the altercations with his wife.

Before long, both were out of a job. Rob was fired and Ashley resigned and fled to South Florida, where she landed a job at WSVN.

It's been two years since the dram unfolded in their Connecticut home, but now Ashley has started over and has found love again.

Ashely says that she has met the love of her life in Keith Jones, a weekend anchor at WTVJ in Miami.

Morris says she first met Jones over the airwaves while she was in New York and he in Tampa, where he worked as an Anchor WTSP.

"I tell people we basically met in space," Jones said.

The Sun-Sentinel writes that commonalities between the two news personalities were undeniable: both college athletes, both from the Midwest and both newly-single parents.

"I really leaned on him," Morrison said. "He was there for me, and someone I could trust. We were literally the same person."

Morrison and Jones each relocated to South Florida within a few years of one another. Soon after Morrison arrived, she and Jones began talking on the phone, and he eventually asked her out on a date. It didn’t take long for the pair to realize they were meant for each other.

But before Jones asked his girlfriend to marry him, he made sure to get the approval of Morrison’s first love - her son, Jack.

"One night when Ashley was away on business, I asked Jack what he thought about me asking his mom to marry me," Jones said. "He was so happy, and said, 'Yes!'"

On Dec. 12, Morrison and Jones walked down the aisle in front of 25 of their closest friends and family in Weston. Jack, 10, served as best man, and Jones' two daughters, 18 and 19, were also present to watch the couple exchange vows.

"My entire life, I didn't know I could be so happy and in love with somebody," Morrison said. "Our wedding was really just a formality because I felt married to him in my heart already. When we first started dating, I knew he was the person I wanted to spend my life with. It's so nice to have a real love."

"We both believe things happen for a reason, and that those things build the person that you become," Jones said. "For whatever reason, we found each other. And it feels like it's supposed to be."

As for Rob Morrison? He was last seen in Miami as well, selling houses and so far, staying out of jail.
