But it doesn’t end there for WBMA.

Pam Huff has delivered the news to to people in Birmingham for almost 5 decades. She has announced that she’s leaving after the May book.

“I have spent 50 years working as a journalist -- 47 of those years right here in Birmingham -- talking to you, telling you about your community and your world,” Huff said during her announcement.

“You gave a 24-year-old woman a chance in what was then a man’s profession,” she continued. You allowed me to be pregnant and stay on the air -- and that was a first for this television market.”

“There is no adequate way to say ‘thank you,’ because without you I would not have made it all these decades in the news business. But now, however, it is time to step back and to allow the next generation of journalists to get to experience what I have loved for so long.”
