Yesterday, FTVLive told you that KPNX News Director George Davilas listed himself as “Producer” on a number of the Tegna station’s Emmy entries.

Yesterday, FTVLive wrote, “You’re the News Director, not the Producer…. how about taking just a small step back and letting your staff get some credit?”

That story brought in a number of comments to FTVLive.

A KPNX insider emailed FTVLive and had this to say about Davilas slapping his name on the entries:

Quick note on your post about George Davilas and he is quest for Emmys. It's also important to note he listed himself as a producer on several shows he wasn't even in the building for, including Cardinals Locker Room which is produced and airs on the weekend. And obviously he wasn't there for the early morning newscasts he's listed himself as a "producer" on either.

For us, it should be about your staff.

When you’re the News Director, take a step back and let your employees enjoy the spotlight. I just think the boss needs to put their ego aside and let the staff get some credit.

Then again, we’re talking about the Emmys and it is really nothing more than a waste of time and money.

I can assure you, call yourself an Emmy award winner, might help puff up your ego, but it will not help you land a job.

I have never talked to a single News Director that gives a crap about a job candidates Emmys. Maybe they are out there, but I have never met one.
