Denver Station Says Reporter's Claims are False

On Friday, FTVLive FIRST told you that KDVR (Denver) Reporter Heidi Hemmat had quit the station after she says that she had death threats made against her after covering a story.

Back in February 2015, FTVLive told you that Hemmat was crawling around a local business's dumpster, when the business owner came out and confronted her.

The story ended with the man losing his business and Hemmat says that story made her quit TV news. On her website, she writes the man told his therapist that he wanted to kill her.

Hemmat was scared, but she claimed that station management didn't seem to take her complaints very seriously.

The station is now basically saying that Hemmat  is lying.

KDVR released this statement:

"These accusations are unequivocally false, we took Heidi’s concerns very seriously and provided her with support, security and an attorney, for which Heidi expressed her appreciation.  To be clear, we never denied a request for additional security. We are disappointed Heidi has chosen to view the circumstances differently and disparage the station.

We wish her nothing but the best during what appears to be a continued difficult time."

It is likely that the truth on this story is somewhere in the middle, but an employee was scared enough to quit her job and you would have hoped that station management did everything in their power to make sure that their employee was safe.
