Milwaukee Anchor to Leave Late News

WISN (Milwaukee) Anchor Kathy Mykleby says that her decision to leave the 10 p.m. anchor chair was all hers but it follows a months-long decline in audience ratings for the newscast.

Mykleby announced to viewers this week that she will end her tenure on the 10 o'clock news in late November.

Mykleby will remain with the station where she’s worked since 1980 as a 6 p.m. co-anchor and also focus on reporting stories about “interesting people, the big issues, and the changing face of Milwaukee.”

The station says they will announce the new team for the 10 o'clock broadcast “in the next couple of weeks,” according to GM Jan Wade.

“We are always focused on making our newscasts — including the 10 o'clock — relevant and competitive,” Wade said. “That is an ongoing process, each and every day.”

WISN is in last place in the late news ratings.
