Philly Sports Anchor Leaving The Firm

Longtime Philly Sports Anchor Howard Eskin says he is leaving Fox O&O WTXF Fox 29 (AKA The Firm) for the second time.

The veteran sportscaster announced today that he has decided not to renew his contract with Fox 29, where he has covered sports for the past four years.

"It's not an easy decision, but my contract was up for renewal it was a natural time to consider my options," Eskin said, who added the move will allow him to spend more time covering the Eagles with Sportsradio 94.1 WIP, where he hosted the station’s first talk show in 1986.

"Some of the Eagles practices are at 8 a.m., and then I'm filming for Fox at 11 p.m. at night," Eskin said. "So this is really a quality of life change. I just want to work 12 hours a day, instead of 15."

Requests for comments from Fox 29 were not immediately returned (I know shocking right?)

Eskin previously worked for Fox 29 from 1986 to 1991, helping the station launch its 10 p.m. newscast. Before his recent stint with Fox, he worked at NBC10 on the station’s Sunday night “Sports Final” broadcast.
