Former WXYZ  News Director Phil Nye has passed away.

Nye recently worked for public television in Detroit area.

He was last at WXYX reuniting with Bill Bonds and others at the retirement party for Diana Lewis.

Some of the comments refer to him as a "super leader," "a true talent" and a "wonderfully compassionate human being."

He was 87-years-old.
