Washington Post TV Crtic Leaving

In these times, working for a newspaper is not the most secure job.

Working as a TV Critic at a newspaper, is like sitting on death row. You just never know when their going to kill you.

As newspapers watch circulation numbers shrink, more and more people in the industry are laid off, or offered a buyout. Many papers are looking at the TV critic as more of a luxury than a necessity.

This whole internet "fad" is lasting much longer than the newspapers thought.

The latest TV critic to leave a paper is Washington Post's Lisa De Moraes. She's out the door at the end of May.

Politico writes that De Moraes, the author of the Post's "The TV Column," has spent 15 years with the paper, the last six of which saw her traveling between the east coast and Los Angeles, where her husband lives. She attributed her departure to a desire to be with her husband in California.

"My husband is based in L.A., and I've decided I don't want to do the bi-coastal thing anymore," De Moraes, who spent almost a decade at The Hollywood Reporter, told Politico. "I've moving to Los Angeles so I can live with my husband."

Washington Post spokesperson Kris Coratti did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding De Moraes's departure.

No word if the paper will replace De Moraes, but we're guessing not.
