Phoenix Station Buys "Exclusive" For Sweeps

Speaking of KPHO in Phoenix....

The station used last night's Super Bowl to promote a big "exclusive" with a convicted murderer.

Promos ran during the game for KPHO's 'exclusive' jailhouse interview during the SuperBowl with the Baseline killer, Mark Goudeau.

The "Baseline Killer" was the term used by law enforcement and media for convicted serial killer and rapist Mark Goudeau who terrorized the Phoenix metro area, between August 2005 and June 2006.

KPHO may have worked harder with their wallets than their I-Team to land this exclusive.

Sources say cameras are never allowed where Goudeau is being held in Eyman State Prison for Men in Florence, AZ.

So how did KPHO get this big exclusive interview?

They bought it.

The station says that the interview took place in November of 2011, shortly after he was convicted in the case but before his sentencing. The interview was conducted by a British documentary company.

KPHO then says that "CBS 5 obtained the exclusive rights to use the footage for a special report on Goudeau."

A good story for sure, but it is one the station bought and paid for.
