Leaving the Graham Station

The revolving door at Houston’s troubled Graham Media Group station just claimed another one.

Gage Goulding, one of KPRC’s most recognizable and lauded reporters, announced that this week will be his last at the NBC affiliate. While his initial social media post kept his next move under wraps, industry updates confirm a massive career leap: Goulding is leaving the Graham station to become a Seoul-based International Correspondent for CNN.

The departure deals a significant blow to KPRC, a station currently grappling with internal turbulence and a steady exodus of on-air talent. For viewers across Southeast Texas, Goulding’s exit marks the loss of a trusted journalist who anchored coverage through some of the region’s most volatile recent chapters.

"When I arrived in Houston, I knew I was joining one of the biggest, most diverse and passionate communities in the country," Goulding wrote. "What I didn't know was just how much of an impact this city would have on me."

Goulding’s departure immediately struck a chord with a viewership increasingly weary of the instability at the Graham Media-owned station. Reacting to the news, local viewers didn't hold back regarding KPRC's ongoing retention struggles.

"The revolving door at KPRC 2 continues," one viewer pointedly wrote. "I actually liked this guy."

Another viewer echoed the sentiment, adding, "WOW!!!! This makes me so incredibly sad. One of the best reporters this city has ever seen... We truly are heartbroken by this news."

Goulding’s jump to a major international bureau for CNN caps off a meteoric rise through the broadcast ranks. He originally arrived at KPRC in December 2023, quickly ascending to top-reporter status in the market. Before hitting the ground in Houston, he spent three years covering the Gulf Coast at WBBH/WZVN in Fort Myers, Florida. His earlier career stops included serving as an anchor and reporter at WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio, and working as a digital content producer at KDKA in Pittsburgh.
