Five days ago, in a Patron Only Story, FTVLive wrote, “Two sources have told FTVLive that Nexstar has a keen interest in buying Tegna. We have heard that Nexstar is making the moves and don't be surprised to see an offer made for Tegna stations.”

Less than a hour ago, the Wall Street Journal confirmed what FTVLive FIRST reported days ago.

WSJ reports. “a deal could come together soon, granted the talks don’t hit any last-minute snags, the people said.”

The Journal goes onto say, “A deal between Nexstar and Tegna, if successful, could kick off deals among other operators. It would also offer a litmus test of the Trump administration’s Federal Communications Commission. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has been public about his belief that restrictions for TV owners and operators should be loosened. 

Terms of the deal couldn’t be learned have not yet been made public.
