Graham Media continues to lose its way…

Graham’s KPRC (Houston) Moriah Ballard did a story sales pitch for a book by a local Pastor.

Ballard told viewers you are definitely going to want to buy this book, and she called it a “game changer.”

You can watch the story here, but I think she has to receive a cut of each book sold.

Your job as a Journalist is not to pitch products. You can let the author call it a “game changer,” but that’s not your job. Present the story fairly, and let the viewer decide if they want to buy the book, and if it is indeed a game changer.

The fact that the bosses at KPRC let this go shows that they are not providing younger Journalists such as Ballard with any direction.

Also, don’t hug the person you are about to interview.

Where is Graham VP of News Sean McLaughlin, helping point the company’s Journalists in the right direction?

Do Better.
