Hanging the Gray Bonuses Over the Union Members Heads

An internal email went out to the union members at Gray’s WOIO/WUAB (Cleveland) about the holiday bonuses that Gray was giving some employees.

As for one union member, they believe WOIO/WUAB General Manager David Hughes is trying to use the bonus money to “bust the union.”

“Looks like David Hughes, GM of Gray's Cleveland station WOIO, tried to use the Gray bonuses as leverage with the union to get them to reopen their contract and change some jurisdiction language,” the union member said after reading the email. “If he'd been successful, anyone would be able to do union work.  That would pretty much eliminate the need for NABET and bust the union,” the employee added.

Here is the email sent to the union employees and obtained by FTVLive. According to the email, per the union contract, Gray management can give union members the bonus money if they feel so inclined.

We’ll wait and see what they decide to do.
