Let The Sucking Up Begin

When CNN handed Jeff Zucker his hat, many of his pets at CNN were screaming foul and saying that Zucker was unfairly sacked.

The truth is, Jeff Zucker should have been kicked to the curb long before he finally was.

Yesterday, FTVLive told you that CNN will replace Zucker with Chris Licht after the sale to Discovery is done.

And it sure didn’t take long for the Jeff Zucker fanboys to start sucking up to the new boss.

Check the first paragraph on CNN media critic Brian Stelter’s story on Licht and the adjectives he used just in that paragraph.

“Chris Licht, the producer who created “Morning Joe,” revamped “CBS This Morning” and revitalized “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” has been selected to run CNN once Discovery merges with WarnerMedia this spring, according to three sources with knowledge of the plan.”

Stelter continued the hoovering on his social media:

Jeff who?

Stelter makes it look like this is the greatest hiring since the Bulls drafter Micheal Jordan.

But, he wasn’t the only one sucking up to CNN’s next boss.

That giant sucking sound you hear is from the people that hope to stay at CNN after Licht “revitalizes” iI, or they are hoping to join CNN under the Licht regime.

The only one that didn’t seem to outright try and lick Licht’s boots was CNN media critic Oliver Darcy. But, that might just be because Stelter hasn’t told him what to say just yet.

Licht is a solid, if not safe hire. Personally, I would have loved to seen CNN go away from the standard “white guy” and found a qualified woman, or person of color (maybe even both), but you just knew it wasn’t going to happen.

As for Jeff Zucker, it appears he is no longer the flavor of the month.
