Here We Go Again...

With a new year, the retrans pissing matches are in full swing.

At the last minute, Tribune and Charter’s Spectrum agreed to extend the deadline for their carriage contract to 5 PM ET Wednesday, averting a blackout of 33 local TV stations.

The Tribune stations were slated to go dark at midnight last night.

Verizon and the Disney stations struck a last minute agreement, keeping ESPN and ABC stations on Fios.

Other station groups are still fighting it out.

This was an email that Fios sent out to customers in regards to Tegna:

In the end they will all come to an agreement, they won’t say for how much and then your cable bill will go up.

Despite what they say, none of these companies really care about you one iota.
