Staffers Lodged Complaints About Nexstar GM

Back in March, FTVLive told you that former WHTM (Harrisburg) Anchor Flora Posteraro had filed a complaint against the Nexstar station and its GM Robert Bee.

But, before Posteraro launched a discrimination case against her former employer last month, she was part of a larger group of staffers who lodged an internal complaint with the station's owners.

That complaint, a copy of which has been obtained by PennLive, details a litany of off-color teasing, comments about physical appearance and personalities by Bee that the staffers alleged violated company rules and created a hostile work environment.

Those actions also "violate common decency and good judgment," the complainants state.

The August complaint, which a group of employees filed anonymously, is one of the trigger points Posteraro has pointed to for moves at the station this winter that ultimately led to her reassignment to a weekend anchor / reporter position.

Other WHTM staffers verified portions of last summer's complaint in interviews over the past two weeks, in part, they said, to affirm that Posteraro's challenges of Bee are not exclusive to her.

The group complaint states that "these experiences have not been isolated. They have become a pattern of behavior here at abc27 that should not be tolerated."

Nexstar regional manager Theresa Underwood told the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal in an interview last week that after an investigation of the August 2017 complaint, "the company found no merit in the claims nor any violation of company policy."

Underwood is the senior executive vice president and regional manager with Nexstar to whom Bee reports. Bee has referred interview requests to Underwood, but she has not responded to several requests for interviews in the last two weeks.

FTVLive FIRST reported back on March 26th that Nexstar suits made a visit to the station and threw their support behind Bee.

Stay tuned...
