THE SILENT GAMES The Winter Olympics are coming up next month, and if you haven’t heard much about them, you are certainly not alone. There seems to be almost no buzz about the games this time around. Now, I will admit, I don't watch TV any longer. I long ago joined those who, when they do sit down to the TV, watch streaming shows. But, usually, the Olympic hype is unavoidable. You see it on social media, you hear people talking about it in line at the grocery store. This year? Nothing. A quick search shows that the Olympics are on NBC again. As many of you know, at least once a week, I go to Universal Studios here in Orlando. The park is owned by Comcast, the same company that owns NBC. You would think the synergy machine would be in full force, plastering the rings everywhere. Yet, I haven't seen any promotion at the park, and as I said, there is zero buzz. Then I saw a story that confirmed I wasn't the only one checking out. The managing editor of The Washington Post sent a terse and unexpected email to more than a dozen of the newspaper’s journalists on Friday, notifying them that their coverage plans were abruptly being changed. “As we assess our priorities for 2026, we have decided not to send a contingent to the Winter Olympics,” the managing editor wrote. “We realize this decision and its timing will be disappointing to many of you, so please reach out to me if you want to talk further.” Think about that. One of the biggest newspapers in the country is passing on covering the Olympics. I guess it makes sense that the Olympics are an afterthought. People are more focused on trying to pay for food than watching curling. Our government has invaded one country and taken control, and—at least according to the President—was thinking about invading Greenland and maybe Iceland. U.S. citizens are being shot and killed by government officials. Cities are on edge in blue states, and we have a number of past and former leaders who may be involved in a pedophile ring cover-up. When you factor all that in, the Olympics aren't really that important. I will predict right now that these games will be the lowest-rated in history. Stay tuned..
